Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Updated: Sep 4, 2019

The Pirates invited us to be part of their African American Heritage Celebration last weekend. The Pirates played the Brewers and the teams donned Negro League throwback uniforms. It was The Pittsburgh Crawfords v. The Milwaukee Bears. PNC Park is a great stadium, possibly the best in MLB and being part of a their program was outstanding.

On Monday, June 3 we did a special screening of the film for local schools at the Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA). The kids were treated to lunch and the film followed by a panel discussion that included Filmaker, Lauren Meyer, Charlene Foggie-Barnett of the Teenie Harris Archive and Joel S. Gray, Community Outreach Coordinator for the Pirates.

This is an important story that deserves to be shared. Together we can unite communities and expand the reach of these inspiring stories. 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Negro Leagues. Join us in celebrating the legacy and honoring these civil rights trailblazers.
