NYC Film Premiere
1/31/19 - The Other Boys of Summer had a NYC premiere in celebration of the centennial of Jackie Robinson’s birth. On a bitterly cold NYC night The Great Hall was warm as 275-300 people watched the film which explores the impact the Negro League baseball players had on civil rights in America. Laura Sparks, The Cooper Union President, introduced the film from the podium where Abraham Lincoln gave a speech over 150 years earlier. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with the film’s Director, Lauren Meyer and 2 of the Negro League players from the film, Jim Robinson and Pedro Sierra. The theater was full of Network Executives, Producers, Artists, Historians, Sports Writers, Fans, Family and Friends of all ages, races and backgrounds. They were treated to a special evening where people came together and left inspired.  The Other Boys of Summer is traveling the country to preserve the legacy of these civil rights trailblazers.
